New Iowa Pork building a smash hit at the ISF

The Iowa Pork tent has been a fixture at the Iowa State Fair for many years but this year, a new permanent structure was unveiled just in time for the 11-day run of the fair.

That is Kelsey Sutter, the marketing & program director at Iowa Pork Producers Association. She says that throughout the five-year renovation planning process, the plans for the new space continued to evolve.

The Iowa Pork Tent is always a popular destination for lunch or dinner and although the food can draw a big crowd, Sutter says don’t be intimidated by the line waiting to get in.

For many years, presidential hopefuls have visited the tent in order to flip pork chops and burgers on the grill and meet with Iowa’s pork producers and IPPA members.
However, at its heart the Pork Tent is an excellent way to bring everyday producers and consumers together at the fair says Sutter.

Iowa’s pork producers make Iowa the #1 state in pork production and that production of quality sustainable pork is on display prominently throughout the run of the fair each year.
