In Swine Versation: Next Generation Biosecurity with Dr. Scott Dee

This is a completely new idea brought to light by Dr. Dee here today.

Next generation biosecurity is the application of science-based protocols across mechanical risk, aerosol risk and feed risk at the level of the sow farm. We need to challenge the industry to advance to this next level. Many farms simply focus on mechanical risks and ignore air and feed. We also need to introduce the idea of “First generation biosecurity” as it pertains to the WTF segment.

Basics of this topic:
Routes of pathogen transmission can be divided into:
Direct routes: pigs and seen
Indirect routes: mechanical (transport, fomites, personnel, etc), aerosol, feed
