Applications Open for the 2024 Morrison Swine Innovator Prize Honoring Dr. Bob Morrison’s Legacy by Inspiring Future Swine Veterinary Leaders

The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Minnesota is proud to announce that applications are now open for the 2024 Morrison Swine Innovator Prize. This prestigious award honors the legacy of Dr. Bob Morrison by encouraging DVM students to engage in innovative work that benefits the swine industry, following Dr. Morrison’s inspiring mantra: “Learn. Teach. Have fun.”

Objective: The Morrison Swine Innovator Prize aims to inspire and support the next generation of leaders in the swine veterinary industry, connecting them with today’s top producers and veterinary clinics.

Goals of the Morrison Swine Innovator Prize:

  • Honoring Dr. Morrison’s Legacy: Inspire innovative thinking and problem-solving among veterinary students, in line with Dr. Morrison’s commitment to impactful work in the swine industry.
  • Industry Exposure: Encourage DVM students to specialize in swine by providing them with exposure to the industry.
  • Networking Opportunities: Facilitate networking between upcoming swine veterinary leaders, producers, veterinary clinics, and allied industries.
  • Industry Leadership: Offer a platform for companies and veterinary practices to showcase their leadership and commitment to education and innovation.

Submission Details:

  • Veterinary students are invited to submit their applications for the prize by August 15, 2024. Selected students will present their work during the DVM student session at the Allen D. Leman Swine Conference on September 22, 2024.
  • The session will feature presentations that highlight students’ problem-solving skills and clinical training. Creativity and originality in the presentations are highly encouraged.
  • Finalists will receive a $1,000 stipend and complimentary admission to the Leman Swine Conference.
