As filtration and airflow management continue to play a larger role in swine facility design, equipment performance at the entry point matters more than ever.
At the 2026 Iowa Pork Congress, Thorp Equipment introduced its new airtight filter door, designed to support modern biosecurity and positive-pressure filtration systems. The door features a full 360-degree seal and a double-locking mechanism, with installation designed to ensure a tight fit through spray-foam application behind the jamb.
According to Thorp Equipment, each door is tested at the company’s facility and rated to withstand 0.4 static pressure, ensuring consistent airtight performance. The focus, Jason explained on the show floor, is eliminating leakage points that can compromise filtration effectiveness and airflow control.
As disease pressure and biosecurity expectations continue to influence barn design decisions, components like filter doors are becoming an increasingly important part of the overall system — not just an accessory. http://www.thorpequipment.com
