DanBred continues to lead the way in genetic performance, with new data from Denmark showing a significant boost in sow and finisher productivity. In 2024, DanBred herds achieved an average of 36.2 weaned piglets per sow per year—a gain of nearly two piglets per sow in just two years.
“This improvement reflects what we’re seeing globally: DanBred herds are reaching record-high productivity levels,” said Torben Aarris, CEO of DanBred.
The productivity jump is driven by:
-
A 0.9 percentage point improvement in piglet survival
-
An increase of 0.3 live-born piglets per litter
🚀 Finisher Gains Accelerate
DanBred finisher herds also posted strong performance improvements:
-
Average daily gain (ADG): 1,065 grams from 30 kg to slaughter (+32 grams vs. 2023)
-
Feed efficiency: 0.047 kg less feed per kg of gain
-
Total feed savings: ~4 kg per pig from 30 kg to slaughter
“These are measurable results that translate into real value,” said Peter M. Mathiasen, Supply Chain & Operations Director. “DanBred pigs are growing faster and more efficiently—helping producers improve profitability and sustainability.”
🌱 Genetics Driving Global Sustainability
The results underscore DanBred’s commitment to turning genetic potential into real-world performance. Through strategic breeding, the company enables producers to do more with less—strengthening the bottom line while supporting sustainable pork production worldwide.
