Standard Meat Company Appoints Bill Chandler as Director of Supply Chain

– In a move that reinforces its long-term growth strategy and investment in leadership, Standard Meat Company (SMC) has appointed Bill Chandler as its new Director of Supply Chain. This newly created position consolidates key operational areas—including procurement, logistics, and warehousing—into a unified supply chain function to support the company’s expansion and client service goals.

Founded in 1935, SMC is a fourth-generation, family-owned protein processor and packaging innovator with facilities across Dallas–Fort Worth, Saginaw, and Ponder—and a fifth location on the way. The company is widely recognized for its custom protein solutions, serving foodservice and retail customers globally.

Bill brings the right mix of experience, love of the industry, and respect for the people,” said Ben Rosenthal, SMC Co-President and CEO. “He knows real strategy starts with relationships, and he’s already identifying ways to help our teams scale efficiently while staying true to our values.”

🔹 An Industry Veteran With a People-First Approach

Chandler joins SMC with more than 30 years of protein supply chain leadership, most recently as Vice President of Protein Trade Sales at Cargill, where he led over 300 team members across 12 locations in the U.S. and Canada. His new role at SMC marks a return to hands-on, integrated leadership, aligning operations with the company’s customer-first culture.

“I’ve spent most of my career in supply-driven systems — this is different,” said Chandler. “Standard Meat is demand-driven. It’s about service, specialty products, and real relationships. That makes it more intricate, collaborative, and exciting.”

🔹 Investing in Talent and Mentorship

SMC Co-President Ashli Rosenthal Blumenfeld emphasized the importance of Chandler’s mentorship role amid a generational shift in the workforce.

“Bill understands the knowledge gap our industry is facing,” said Blumenfeld. “He’s passionate about passing on what he’s learned, and that’s a powerful asset for the next generation of leaders here at SMC.”

Chandler holds a B.S. and M.S. in Agricultural Economics from Oklahoma State University. He and his wife, Kristen, recently relocated from Wichita, Kansas, and are eager to connect with the Fort Worth community. Chandler is also active in nonprofit work and has served on multiple advisory boards, including the Kansas Hispanic Education and Development Foundation.
