Scott Aakre to Retire After 35 Years at Hormel Foods

Marketing Officer for Retail, will retire at the end of fiscal year 2025, concluding a distinguished 35-year career with the company. Aakre will continue to contribute to Hormel Foods as a member of its Board of Directors, effective May 15, 2025.

Aakre joined Hormel Foods in 1990 and has held various leadership roles, including Vice President of Marketing for Grocery Products, Vice President of Corporate Innovation and New Product Development, and Senior Vice President of Brand Fuel. He was appointed as CMO in 2023. Throughout his tenure, Aakre has been instrumental in evolving the company’s brand portfolio to meet changing consumer needs, particularly in the areas of snacking, entertaining, and food-forward offerings.

In recognition of his contributions, Aakre was appointed to The Hormel Foundation Board in April 2025, an unaffiliated nonprofit organization that beneficially owns approximately 46% of Hormel Foods’ common stock.

Jim Snee, President and CEO of Hormel Foods, praised Aakre’s contributions, stating, “Scott has been a tremendous asset to our organization, and we have been incredibly fortunate to benefit from his leadership, creativity, and business expertise for over three decades.”

Aakre’s retirement marks the end of a significant chapter in Hormel Foods’ history, reflecting his dedication and impact on the company’s growth and innovation over the past 35 years.
