For three decades, Tom Boge has been a cornerstone of Iowa Select Farms, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to caring for pigs and leading the wean-to-market team with pride and dedication. As Senior Wean-to-Market Supervisor, Tom’s philosophy is simple yet effective: “There’s no secret to raising pigs. Give them proper ventilation, food, water, and care, and you’ll have the world’s happiest, healthiest pigs.”
Tom’s leadership and work ethic are as remarkable as his bright smile and positive attitude. Over the years, he has been instrumental in ensuring that pigs receive the nutrition and attention they need to thrive from six weeks of age onward. “Working with pigs gives me a sense of pride and responsibility,” Tom shares. “It’s about showing up every day and doing right by them.”
A true team player, Tom credits his success to the people around him. “I’m only one person,” he says. “If I didn’t have the team of people I have with me, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
Beyond the farm, Tom served 21 years in the Iowa National Guard’s 34th Infantry ‘Red Bulls’ Division, deploying four times to Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iraq, and Afghanistan before retiring as a Sgt. 1st Class. His military discipline and leadership have seamlessly carried over to his role in agriculture, strengthening his ability to lead and serve both pigs and people alike.
Iowa Select Farms recognizes Tom Boge’s outstanding contributions to both his country and the pork industry. Congratulations, Tom, on 30 incredible years—and thank you for your dedication!
