“For me, a lot of the motivation started when I was young. It was just the way I was raised. Our family always invested in people,” See shared.
His leadership has elevated NC State’s Animal Science Department through on-campus farm programs, distance education degree support, and active participation in national pork industry planning efforts. He has also contributed to over 50 industry task forces and 15 national program reviews, further solidifying his role as an influential voice in pork production.
Bringing Science to the Industry
Dr. See has also been a key figure in making complex scientific research accessible to producers and policymakers. His ability to translate data into practical insights has been critical in supporting the pork industry through various challenges.
A defining moment in his career came during nuisance lawsuits in North Carolina, where his expertise in swine production and research helped combat industry misconceptions. Working alongside the National Pork Board (NPB), National Pork Producers Council (NPPC), and North Carolina Pork Council, See ensured that pork producers were represented with factual, research-backed insights.
A Lasting Impact
Dr. See was honored during the National Pork Industry Forum in Orlando, Florida, where colleagues and industry leaders celebrated his contributions. More than just a researcher and educator, he is an advocate for the next generation of pork producers.
“Todd’s legacy is the people. He has guided important research, but that’s not his legacy. His legacy is the people that will go on and lead this industry,” said Jan Archer, producer education and outreach at North Carolina Pork Council and past NPB president.
