A proposed $3.1 million class action settlement has been announced following the recall of certain Boar’s Head-branded pork products earlier this year. The case stems from allegations that Whole Foods sold products under the Boar’s Head label that were not actually produced by the company.
According to court documents, the mislabeling impacted a selection of pork products sold at Whole Foods between November 2018 and February 2024. Although Boar’s Head itself did not produce the mislabeled items, the labeling led to consumer confusion, prompting the legal action.
Who Qualifies for Compensation?
Consumers who purchased pork products labeled as Boar’s Head from Whole Foods during the specified timeframe may be eligible for compensation if the settlement receives final court approval.
-
Eligible individuals can submit claims without a receipt for up to $75.
-
Those with receipts may receive higher compensation based on their purchases.
The settlement is currently pending court approval, with a final hearing scheduled for January 2026. If approved, payments will be distributed to qualifying consumers thereafter.
This case underscores the importance of accurate product labeling and brand integrity in the meat sector, especially as consumer trust plays a vital role in the pork industry.
Swine Web will continue to follow developments related to pork recalls, labeling transparency, and food safety regulations.
