The National Agricultural Law Center (NALC) is taking a major step to strengthen legal support across the agriculture industry by creating a national directory of attorneys and firms specializing in agricultural law.
Located in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the NALC says requests for attorney referrals continue to grow each year from producers, landowners, and agribusiness professionals seeking legal expertise in areas such as environmental regulations, biosecurity, water rights, and animal agriculture.
While the NALC traditionally directs inquiries to state bar associations and related organizations, the Center recognizes those lists don’t always capture the depth of professionals who work directly with agriculture. To bridge that gap, the new directory will compile contact information for private practice attorneys who have professional experience or a practice focus in agriculture.
“We hope this resource will make it easier for producers, landowners, and industry professionals to connect with legal experts who understand the unique challenges of agriculture,” the NALC said in its announcement. “Inclusion on the list does not constitute endorsement—it’s intended solely as a resource for the agricultural community.”
The initiative is part of the Center’s broader effort to support the legal and policy framework around farming, livestock production, and rural development. For swine producers, access to qualified legal professionals can be critical when navigating topics like foreign animal disease preparedness, land use regulations, biosecurity compliance, and contract law.
Attorneys or firms interested in being included in the directory can submit their information directly through the NALC’s website at www.nationalaglawcenter.org
