Muyuan Foods Raises 2025 Pig Slaughter Forecast

China’s leading pig breeder, Muyuan Foods, has increased its forecast for the number of pigs to be slaughtered this year, signaling stronger production momentum in the world’s largest pork market.

In a recent filing, Muyuan raised its estimate from 8–12 million to 12–14.5 million piglets for 2025. The adjustment reflects solid herd expansion and improving productivity as market conditions stabilize following previous volatility in hog prices.

As one of China’s top vertically integrated producers, Muyuan continues to play a key role in supporting national pork supply and maintaining herd recovery efforts after several challenging years for the sector.
