What This summer, the Minnesota Pork Board attended community events throughout the Twin Cities, connecting consumers with Minnesota pig farmers as part of the Oink Outings program. Every question a consumer asked at Oink Outing events equated to a pound of ground pork donated. The Minnesota Pork Board is proud to announce a donation of 6,000 pounds of ground pork to Second Harvest Heartland – enough pork to feed 24,000 people.
The donation will be presented by Minnesota Pork Board leadership to Second Harvest Heartland. Second Harvest Heartland works in close partnership with a network of 360 food shelves and nearly 1,000 partner programs across Minnesota and western Wisconsin who will distribute the pork to families facing hunger. Following the donation, Minnesota Pork Board, Minnesota Department of Agriculture, and Second Harvest Heartland representatives (listed below) will be available for interview.
