Mid-Iowa Milling, LLC has announced the acquisition of two Iowa-based feed operations, further expanding its footprint and production capacity across the region. The acquisitions include Mid-State Milling, LLC and the Edgewood Feed Mill, strengthening the company’s ability to serve livestock producers with a broader range of feed solutions.
The move supports Mid-Iowa Milling’s long-term growth strategy while reinforcing its commitment to local grain utilization and customer service across northern and eastern Iowa. Financial terms of the acquisitions were not disclosed.
Expanding Feed Capacity and Capabilities
With the additions, Mid-Iowa Milling enhances its ability to manufacture a wide variety of livestock feeds, including meal, pellets, crumbles, and premixes. The expanded network allows the company to better meet the nutritional needs of swine producers, along with customers in other livestock sectors.
The Edgewood Feed Mill brings a long-standing history in feed manufacturing and includes grain-handling infrastructure that supports significant swine feed production. The facility has been an important part of the local agricultural community and will continue operating under Mid-Iowa Milling’s management.
Mid-State Milling, which Mid-Iowa Milling had previously leased, adds further scale to the company’s operations. The facilities are known for producing starter feeds, grow-finish rations, and specialty diets, including feeds tailored for swine production systems.
What This Means for Swine Producers
For pork producers, the expanded capacity may translate into improved access to locally produced feeds and greater flexibility in diet formulation. Increased production scale can also support more efficient feed manufacturing and distribution, helping meet the demands of modern swine operations.
As feed manufacturing continues to consolidate and evolve, Mid-Iowa Milling’s expansion reflects broader industry trends focused on efficiency, service, and proximity to both grain sources and livestock customers.
