Manitoba announces new PED cases

229
Yesterday, on June 9, Manitoba announced two new cases of porcine epidemic diarrhea (PED): one in the province’s North East Buffer Area, and one in the province’s High-Risk Area. Manitoba PED cases are concentrated mostly southeast of Winnipeg.

The Canada West Swine Health Intelligence Network (CWSHIN), to which Alberta Pork belongs, has released an information bulletin on the outbreaks. CWSHIN and government partners are actively working to contain and investigate the new outbreaks.

At this time especially, Alberta producers are reminded to pay close attention to biosecurity protocols to prevent any potential disease transmission. Alberta is free of PED, and there are not any active cases in our province. Learn more about Alberta swine disease monitoring.
