Argentina has officially launched its first-ever pork export to the Philippines, marking a major milestone for the country’s growing pork industry. The initial shipment consisted of pork offal, a product not commonly consumed locally, creating a value-added export opportunity for Argentine producers.
The Philippines, now the sixth-largest pork importer globally, presents a rapidly expanding market that surpasses import levels seen in the United States, Canada, and Japan.
This export was managed by a leading Argentine company based in Marcos Paz, Buenos Aires Province, and represents the third new international market opened for Argentina’s pork sector in 2025. Earlier this year, Argentina gained access to Paraguay for chilled offal and fresh/chilled boneless pork.
Additional markets opened in 2024 for other pork-related products include:
-
European Union: gelatin and edible pork by-products
-
Ecuador and South Africa: porcine hemoderivatives
-
Brazil: breeding pigs
-
Uruguay: fresh/chilled boneless pork, pork skins, semen, and live animals
This growing global presence reflects Argentina’s increasing competitiveness and strategic focus on value-added pork exports.
