The Iowa Pork Producers Association (IPPA) is once again demonstrating the leadership and generosity of the U.S. pork industry by donating more than 9,500 pounds of ground pork to six regional food banks serving families in Iowa and western Nebraska. The donation, valued at $20,000, will be distributed October 28–29, 2025, and will provide thousands of high-quality protein servings to individuals facing food insecurity.
This initiative is funded through proceeds from BBQ & Brew at the Ballpark, a charitable partnership event organized by the Iowa Pork Producers Association, the Iowa Cubs, and Fareway Stores. The distribution reflects the core We Care® values embraced by pig farmers—particularly their commitment to supporting people and the communities where they live and work.

Pork Producers Giving Back
Through this annual program, Iowa’s pig farmers continue to demonstrate that their responsibility extends far beyond the barn. Pork donations like this provide essential protein to food banks at a time when demand is high and resources are stretched.
“Access to quality protein is critical for health and nutrition,” the Association said. “This donation reflects the values of Iowa’s pork producers, who are committed to caring for people just as they care for their animals and the land.”
About the Event
BBQ & Brew at the Ballpark brings together pork industry stakeholders, community members, and protein lovers to raise funds for hunger relief efforts. The success of this year’s event, in partnership with Fareway Stores, made this statewide donation possible.
