Harrison Furlow Joins Iowa Pork Producers Association as Director of Public Policy

The Iowa Pork Producers Association (IPPA) has welcomed Harrison Furlow as its new Director of Public Policy, effective August 4. Furlow brings a strong background in agricultural policy, strategic communication, and advocacy focused on the needs of pork producers.

“We are pleased to welcome Harrison to the team,” said Pat McGonegle, CEO of IPPA. “His experience and passion for the swine industry make him a valuable asset in our work to support and represent Iowa’s pork producers at the state and national levels.”

Furlow recently completed the Pork Industry Immersion Program, a two-year leadership initiative involving the National Pork Board (NPB), National Pork Producers Council (NPPC), and state pork associations. As part of that program, he served as Manager of Pork Industry Relations with NPPC and contributed to communication efforts in Washington, D.C., advocating for pork industry priorities on Capitol Hill.

A Virginia native, Furlow holds a degree in animal science from Iowa State University and was active in livestock judging, student leadership, and hands-on production experiences. His agricultural roots include raising pigs, beef cattle, and goats through 4-H programs.

“Iowa has felt like home ever since my time at Iowa State,” said Furlow. “Joining the Iowa Pork Producers Association is both a professional milestone and a personal return. I’m honored to work on behalf of the state that welcomed me and leads the nation in pork production.”

Furlow’s addition signals IPPA’s continued focus on strong leadership and effective representation for Iowa’s pork producers.
