|Over the last two months, as Canada has responded to and learned more about the COVID-19 virus, regions of Canada are starting to implement their phased re-launch strategies to begin re-opening the economy. As a part of this process, businesses and activities that meet and follow provincial health officials’ recommendations are allowed to resume.
Alberta Pork and the Canadian Pork Council (CPC) are encouraging full validations (FV) under the Canadian Quality Assurance (CQA) and Animal Care Assessment (ACA) programs to take place. Partial validations (PV) have been ongoing, but FV were previously postponed in mid-March.
Producers scheduled for a CQA/ACA FV may now request to complete the on-farm visit with their validators. If you are due for an FV, please discuss the visit with your validator. Please remember to respect the Alberta Health Services public health guidelines and remain mindful of physical distancing and other recommendations.
If you or your validator are concerned about completing a CQA/ACA FV at this time, please contact your provincial coordinator to discuss different options to obtain your certification.
If your expiry date was already extended, please contact your validator to schedule a CQA/ACA FV or PV. Producers are expected to complete PV according to pre-existing schedules, as validators performing PV are not required to be at the farm.
Alberta Pork will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and will inform producers of any changes to our programs.
