Chicago to Host 22nd International Conference on Swine Viral Diseases

The global swine health community will gather in Chicago, Illinois, on January 16–17, 2026, for the 22nd North American PRRS Symposium and International Conference of Swine Viral Diseases (ICSVD). This two-day event has become one of the industry’s most respected forums for sharing research, building collaborations, and addressing the challenges posed by both established and emerging swine viruses.

Originally launched in 2003 as the International PRRS Symposium, the conference has grown into a premier international meeting point for scientists, veterinarians, industry experts, and students. This year’s program will cover a broad range of swine health issues, from PRRS and PEDV to ASFV and other emerging viral threats.

The 2026 meeting promises a mix of cutting-edge science and collaborative exchange, with six plenary sessions, a translational workshop co-organized with the Swine Health Information Center, industry-sponsored lunch discussions, a robust poster session, and the NC229 business meeting. A highlight will be the Saturday evening banquet, featuring keynote presentations and an award ceremony recognizing leadership in swine health research.

The conference is strategically scheduled alongside the Conference of Research Workers in Animal Diseases (CRWAD), which runs January 17–20, 2026, also at the InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile. This connection fosters cross-disciplinary dialogue between swine health professionals and experts in other animal health sectors.

Organizers Ying Fang, Pablo Pineyro-Pineiro, and the NAPRRS/NC229 ICSVD team emphasize that the event is more than a technical meeting—it’s a space where the global swine health community can align on strategies, share insights, and strengthen relationships that drive progress in disease control.
