The 30th Annual World Pork Expo Is Just Around the Corner

The home of all things pork and everything pig is back, and to celebrate its 30th year, it’s bigger and better than ever. Exciting changes are coming to the 30th World Pork Expo  this June 6-8, at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, Iowa.

“The Expo’s 30th anniversary is a great time to look back at all we’ve accomplished as pork producers,” says Jim Heimerl, National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) president and producer from Johnstown, Ohio, “But more important, it provides us with the perfect place to look forward to the many opportunities and advancements that lie ahead.”

In 2018, the world’s largest pork-specific tradeshow is out to set a new record. Covering more than 360,000 square feet, the indoor and outdoor display space is the largest in the history of the show.

There’s no shortage of things to do and see at Expo. That includes nearly two dozen free, educational seminars. The PORK Academy and Business Seminars run throughout the day on Wednesday and Thursday, with topics ranging from marketing and management to herd health and nutrition.

Come for the pork and stay for the industry’s best networking, innovation and education. With business seminars, live music and the juiciest cuts at the big grill, there’s something for everyone, including the more than 1,000 youth exhibitors expected to participate in Junior National swine shows.

The event, which includes education activities and competitions, kicks of Monday evening, Junior 4, with a Stock Show U Clinic for Swine and concludes with an awards ceremony Friday afternoon. “It’s exciting to see Expo’s continuous growth. It’s a testimony to the vibrancy of the U.S. pork industry,” Heimerl says. “If you haven’t been to Expo in a while, you want to make this the year to attend. You have to see how much it’s changed and how much it offers.”

Registration is now open on the World Pork Expo website.  Register today and save 50 percent on an adult three-day pass. Passes are just $10 per adult (ages 12 and up) until May 31.

More than 20,000 producers and ag professionals attended the 2017 Expo, including approximately 1,000 international guests from 40 countries.
