It’s Time to Quit

1.)    I am the lid of the organization

2.)    Don’t work in your business, work on your business.

Have you ever heard these? I just read in Success magazine that Richard Branson has 300 businesses. WOW! That’s crazy. How does he do that? At Kansas Smith Farms, we have only 130 employees .

In the article, he discussed delegating. He says you must find great people to run things. Then, he focuses his time and energy on dreaming. That sounds great! Easy said than done, replace yourself.  I have been putting off hiring an Operations Director for 6 month. I currently fill that role. I like that role. I am good at it. It’s easy for me.

But I’m holding back this organization from its potential. I posted an ad today for Operations Director for Kansas Smith Farms.   http://pigcareers.com/job/operations-director-3/

Do you need to replace yourself?

About Nathan:

Hi, my name is Nathan Smith and I am the Modern Hog Farmer.  During the day, I am the Leadership Director of Kansas Smith Farms. We have about 100 great and dedicated people and a lot of pigs. We care for about 10,000 sows and raise about 250,000 hogs per year. My purpose here is to be honest and open about hog farming. I want to share the lessons I have been learning while raising pigs for 7 years. I used to think that working in animal agriculture was a boring, discouraging, ungrateful, and stinky industry to work in. But I have changed my mind and here is my story.
