The Iowa Farm Bureau and Iowa Pork Producers Association have teamed up to donate $2 million to the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory at Iowa State University. Iowa Farm Bureau President Craig Hill says the funding will help enhance animal health, food safety, public health and the competitiveness of the state’s growing animal agricultural industry.
He says the Iowa legislature approved $63.5million for the new Vet Lab on the ISU campus but the project needed more money. So, the Farm Bureau and Pork Producers stepped in each donating $1 million.
Hill says he had a personal experience in working with the Vet Diagnostic Lab that provided the immediacy and efficiency his pork operation needed.
