Indiana Pork Producers and Marsh Supermarkets announced their partnership through the Indiana Grown initiative today at the Indiana State Fair.
Through the partnership with Indiana Pork, Marsh Supermarkets will showcase more Hoosier products and offer Indiana Pork’s specialty burgers at all its stores––the burgers were previously only offered at the Indiana State Fair.
The partnership is part of Indiana State Department of Agriculture’s (ISDA) Indiana Grown initiative. The goal of the iniative is to bring awareness to Indian Pork and more than 3,000 Hoosier hog farmers.
“We are thrilled to see this partnership come to fruition thanks to Indiana Grown,” said Jason Slaton, president of the Indiana Pork board of directors. “We are grateful that Marsh is so willing to support Indiana hog farmers and believe this partnership sets an excellent example of the success the Indiana Grown initiative can generate.”
Marsh Supermarkets senior vice president of sales, marketing and advertising says the partnership is one more step that Marsh is taking to provide more local products to consumers.
Ted McKinney, ISDA Director, says the partnership is the first time that Indiana Grown has partnered with a commodity group.
“This announcement is a great example of how Indiana Grown lives the ‘big tent’ concept and supports all sectors of agriculture, in this case Indiana pork farms, and shows how we are using our network and resources to create opportunities and bring people together.”
