Dr. Sara Hough brings production swine health expertise to new role
DSM Animal Nutrition and Health recently hired Sara Hough, D.V.M., to join the North America swine technical services team. In her new role as regional technical services manager, Hough provides field technical support and assists with research opportunities in swine health and nutrition.
April Levy, Ph.D., regional technical services director, says hiring Hough reaffirms DSM’s commitment to swine health. “Dr. Hough brings additional expertise to our team that will allow us to continue to strengthen the support and services we provide swine producers,” she says. “While we know a solid nutrition program is the cornerstone for healthy pigs, we will continue to explore how vitamins and micronutrients benefit productivity and lifetime performance.”
Prior to joining DSM, Hough spent eight years as a swine production veterinarian at Prestage Farms, the fifth largest pork producer in the United States, where she was responsible for the health and welfare of the pigs in the Prestage system. Hough earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University and was awarded Outstanding Young Alumni by the university last year.
Hough has professional memberships with the American Association of Swine Veterinarians, North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association and American Veterinary Medical Association. She also served on the National Pork Board Swine Health Committee for four years.
