DE-Lyte™ Voted One of Best New Products of 2012

DE-Lyte™, a liquid nutritional supplement that helps ease pig transitions from the sow to the nursery, has found its way into the spotlight. The Ralco Animal Health product was voted one of the top new products of the year and is featured in the upcoming July 15 issue of National Hog Farmer.

DE-Lyte™ was part of the New Product Tour at World Pork Expo 2012 and was selected by a panel of swine industry professionals including university professors, veterinarians and producers. The panel interviewed Dr. Russell Fent about DE-Lyte™ during the expo.

“They were very positive when they came to the booth to learn more about DE-Lyte™,” Russell said. “They asked a lot very detailed questions. They were very knowledgeable about what a product like DE-Lyte™ needs to do to be successful and applicable in the field. There were a lot of questions about how the product would work in the barn.”

The unique formulation of DE-Lyte™ gets pigs drinking water and on feed quickly which minimizes the chance of GI upset due to off-feed events. DE-Lyte™ is also acidified to lower gut pH because when a pig transition from a milk diet to a grain-based diet, the gut becomes less acidic which can lead to challenges. A strawberry flavor gets pigs drinking and electrolytes keep them hydrated.

DE-Lyte™ is fortified with vitamins E and D to support the young pig’s transitioning immune system and healthy bone development. Also, Ralco’s proprietary ActiFibe® prebiotic fiber promotes a balanced gut microflora. Russell said the panel was positive about the ingredient combination of DE-Lyte™.

“They liked that we combined a lot of our technologies into an easy-to-use form. They viewed it as an effective combination product. They also liked that the product does not contain dextrose which is something we believe is important as well,” Russell said.

This is the second time a Ralco Animal Health product has been featured in National Hog Farmer magazine this year. Regano® was featured in the March issue. This is also the second time a Ralco Animal Health product has been voted a new product of the year. First Pulse® D was selected in 2007.
